Successful music festival in Breslau/Wroclaw new music Centre for Lower Silesian metropolis on the program of mainly sacred music from classic to contemporary, oratorios, Chamber music and Symphony concerts, Festival Director Andrzej Kosendiak and its artistic director, the English conductor Paul McCreesh, have this year the musical bow between Baroque and modern cocked. That the program was designed primarily by English composers and English music literature, some festival goers felt strange, especially since Poland boasts a very active and above all quality composers team. The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra conducted by ton Koopmann was in his usual quality of Johann Sebastian Bach, Paul McCreesh, artistic director of the Festival, scored with Handel’s Fireworks – and water music, openair before thousands of visitors. Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra with countertenor Daniel Tayler and Carducci String Quartet with the Norwegian baritone Hakan Vramsmo convinced technically and had especially with its soloists each a vocal highlight of the program. The British actor Bill Wallis very expressive conducted a program of the King’s singers. 2008 the KulturForum had turned Europe (www.kfe.de) to the task, to bring the Festival to Europe and to present in a first step in the German-speaking countries which reported a cross-section of German (and even international) journalists from different point of view on invitation of the KFE.
