Festival Chief Kosendiak

Successful music festival in Breslau/Wroclaw new music Centre for Lower Silesian metropolis on the program of mainly sacred music from classic to contemporary, oratorios, Chamber music and Symphony concerts, Festival Director Andrzej Kosendiak and its artistic director, the English conductor Paul McCreesh, have this year the musical bow between Baroque and modern cocked. That the program was designed primarily by English composers and English music literature, some festival goers felt strange, especially since Poland boasts a very active and above all quality composers team. The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra conducted by ton Koopmann was in his usual quality of Johann Sebastian Bach, Paul McCreesh, artistic director of the Festival, scored with Handel’s Fireworks – and water music, openair before thousands of visitors. Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra with countertenor Daniel Tayler and Carducci String Quartet with the Norwegian baritone Hakan Vramsmo convinced technically and had especially with its soloists each a vocal highlight of the program. The British actor Bill Wallis very expressive conducted a program of the King’s singers. 2008 the KulturForum had turned Europe (www.kfe.de) to the task, to bring the Festival to Europe and to present in a first step in the German-speaking countries which reported a cross-section of German (and even international) journalists from different point of view on invitation of the KFE.

If this is successful, which will be in one next evaluation to further define”, so KFE President Dieter Topp joined the applause of musical and organizational quality of the Festival. We want to keep the fidelity in terms of journalistic and thus also cultural tourist continue the Festival to present the Silesian 600,000 inhabitants metropolis Wrocaw with Polish and German roots in the European context. Our city needs cultural ideas on which she can be proud of”, so the slogan of Wroclaw City Mayor Rafal Dutkiewicz. Thus he means not only that many other cultural events that are found throughout the year in his city and promoted. He wipes hereby also the critique from the table concerning the construction of a colossal Music Centre, though this will increase in the next few years in a prominent position in the city centre from the ground. The construction is necessary and adequate, considering the far too small, not attractive and acoustically inadequate Wroclaw Philharmonic an economically emerging city”, added the Mayor and refers to its Festival Director. Andrzej Kosendiak introduces justifiably proud of his major project.

The new building of a Philharmonic Orchestra with three further adjoining meeting rooms, is whether his hand. And he will send a signal so for his city and for themselves, visible and architecturally wonderful contrasting the old Opera House and the brick buildings in the environment of a different artistic performance of the Festival Director and conductor of the Philharmonic. Still, not the content of the upcoming Festival year will tell us, but Kosendiak promises, there will be a very international and prominent – one that will give him, its projects and its city sure good luck, so we believe.
