The region of Murcia is an autonomous community of Spain, located in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, between Andalusia (provinces of Granada and Almeria) and Valencia (Alicante), and between the Mediterranean coast and Castilla-La Mancha ( Albacete province). Its capital is the city of Murcia, which hosts regional institutional organs, except for the Regional Assembly, which is based in Cartagena.
Just under one third of the total population of leaders the Region of Murcia Murcia live in capital. The region is the largest producer of fruits, vegetables and flowers in Europe. Has important vineyards near the towns of Bullas, Yecla and Jumilla that have denomination of origin. Its territory is warm and mostly semiarid nevertheless, agriculture is traditionally irrigated. The highest peak in the region is in the Massif Revolcadores, through 2015 meters.
Physical Geography
Relief
The Region is located at the eastern end of the Andalusian ranges and is influenced by its topography. These ridges are subdivided into:
prebeta Cordillera: the most northern, is the reliefs that are, from west to east, the Sierra de la Muela, the Port of Sopalmo, Magdalena skills and Carche. Its dominant lithology is mainly carbonated. The existence of major regional faults (Jumilla, Pinoso and Jumilla-Yecla) has encouraged the emergence of phenomena of diapirism (Jumilla and Yecla) and volcanism (La Celia).
Subbetica: this consists of numerous overlapping thrusts to itself or to materials prebeta. Its materials are part of the Sierra de Moratalla, the coaching Sierra de Barinas, through the relief of the Sierra del Gavilan, Quipar, Gold and the management battery, and also significantly in the Sierra de Ricote.
and Penib tica (north to south): the three different lithological complexes (Nevado-Filabride, Alpujarride and Malaguide) are very training fractured, but there is a predominance of thrusts and reverse faults between these complexes. The result of this structural complexity are the mountains of Almenara Carrascoy or Espu a Cartagena. Its dominant lithology and metamorphic rocks corresponds to carbonate.
There are important regional faults in all areas, including Falla de Alhama de Murcia, Bullas Fault-Archena or Nor-Betica Scar, near the intersection with other minor flaws.

Traditionally it was considered that the peak of Revolcadores, part of the massif of the same name, was the highest in the Region of links Murcia, with 2027 meters of innovation height, but in the last measurements SNIG maps (National Geographic Information Espana) Revolcadores figure with my 1999 summit itself is a solid, slightly more northern, more elevated: the Bishops, with 2015 m altitude.
Approximately 27 of the territory corresponding to mountainous terrain, 38 intermountain depressions and valley corridors, and the remaining 35 from plains and plateaus.
Climatology
The Region of Murcia enjoys a Mediterranean climate semi-arid type, with mild winters customer service (11 C in December and January) and warm summers (maxima of 40 C). The average annual temperature is 18 C.
With little rainfall of about 300 to 350 mm per year, the region is between 120 and 150 days a year where the sky is completely clear. April and October are the months with more rainfall, with frequent heavy rain in one day.
The distance from the sea and the relief means that there are thermal differences between the coast and inland, especially in winter. While in the coastal temperatures rarely drop below 10 C in the inland areas notusually exceed 6 C and rainfall is higher (up to 600 mm).
The absolute record for temperature recorded in Spain were 47.8 C recorded in the city of Murcia on 29 July 1876. also holds the record Murcia absolute maximum temperature recorded in Spain in the twentieth century to 47.2 C recorded at the observatory Murcia / Alfonso X on 4 July 1994.
The 2005 winter was the coldest in a long time citation needed , even to snow on the coast of Murcia.
